Gently wipe the cloth over all surfaces of the exterior. If necessary, a very soft toothbrush can be used in the links of the bracelet. This will lift any surface dirt or grime away and ensure nothing is left in nooks and crannies. Using chemicals or harsh abrasives is not recommended as this can erode the metal and cause unnecessarily damage.
If you find that you have any cause to maintain the inside of the watch, then take it to a reputable watch dealer. They will be able to open the casing and take care of the problem for you. However, this is very unlikely to be required and would only be in extreme cases of damage or misuse. It is never recommended to open up the watch yourself.
The best precaution is of course to take good care of the watch by keeping it away from dust and dirt. Take it off before you do any manual jobs and always make sure that you store it safely at night.
